Healing the Land and Home — How Does Your Home and Land Affect You?

By Nasreen Geloo

Home and land hold an emotional and energetic imprint of everything and everyone that has lived there. The history, the emotions, the unresolved stories — all of it leaves a residue.
How do you feel in your own home?

When I purchased my flat, I could feel it calling me. There was a pull, almost like hearing her whisper buy me, buy me. I call her “her” because she has a distinctly feminine energy. Over time, I came to understand that many of us have pre‑made agreements with the land we live on and the properties we live in. These places are part of our path.

When I moved in, I noticed my flat carried heavy energy — layers of unresolved emotional residue and spirits who hadn’t fully moved on. There was an elderly woman still holding onto her son, and an older gentleman standing outside my garden door, yearning for his wife. As I tuned into both of them and listened to their wounds, I realised they simply wanted their pain to be witnessed and validated before they could leave.
Once I did this, they moved on, and the space immediately felt lighter.

But there was still a heaviness in my living room — an energy of survival and lack. My body felt it as tightness, contraction, and a sense of being unsettled. I didn’t know it then, but when I looked into the history of my town, I realised the land itself held the memory of the Plague and doomsday and what I was feeling made complete sense in the context of that history.

As I offered healing to the land and the surrounding area, I felt the energy soften. The atmosphere shifted from lack into something lighter, more neutral, and warmer.

As I continued working with my home, I also noticed a curse imprint woven into the land — an energy of never again, of misery, of shutting down possibility. Once this released, it felt as though joy could finally move through again.

You can build a relationship with your home and land too.
Talk to it.
Notice whether it holds feminine or masculine energy.
Sense what it needs to balance and harmonise.
I do this often if not daily with my home.

I also did this consistently when I was selling another property, and it genuinely brought in the right next buyer quite quickly — someone aligned with the energy of the space. Someone else whose path was now going to be tied with the home.

Your home is an extension of you — your physical and mental wellbeing.
So ask yourself:
How does it feel to be in your home?
